The Tuscan winery Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori and in between partly owned by Robert Mondavi. Today it belongs to the wine empire of the Frescobaldi family.

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto Toscana IGT 2019
The legendary "Super Tuscan" from Bolgheri has been one of the rivals of Château Petrus from Pomerol for years. Previously, it was made from 100% Merlot. Since this vintage, there has been a small proportion (10%) of Cabernet Franc (as in Pomerol). The 2019 is described by Falstaff as follows: "Brilliant, intense ruby-violet colour. Intense and inviting nose, initially a little smoke and liquorice, then lots of blackberry, plum and black cherry, with fine spice in the background. Blossoms magnificently on the palate, lots of juicy fruit, opens up in many layers, very long finish, precise and fine". 99/100
