Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto Toscana IGT 2008

A rather wet spring, followed by a very hot and dry summer with correspondingly low but all the more concentrated yields has produced this special vintage of the "Tuscan St Peter' Ornellaia. Deep dark, almost black in colour, the wine presents itself in the glass, lush ripe fruit paired with spice dominates the nose. The concentrated, opulent fruit returns on the palate, along with a powerful tannin structure, herbal spice and liquorice. The 2008 Masseto has only now reached the sweet spot of its drinking maturity window and is now revealing its true greatness, but it certainly still has potential for at least another decade.
