Tiglat? is a Chardonnay that was planted in 1959 in Seewinkel on Lake Neusiedl in Burgenland. The "Tiglat? was and is Austria's first great Chardonnay. Aged in wood for two years, the 2019 wine has a scent of kumquats and mandarins, some pineapple and mango, as well as hay, hazelnuts and a little oat. What makes it so spectacular is the balance of richness and finesse, ripe yellow fruit and an almost unexpectedly lively minerality for the region. The Chardonnay is fine and dense, compact and grippy with a wonderful salinity on the finish.

The Velich winery in Seewinkel on Lake Neusiedl has a history that goes back around 90 years. However, it was not until the 1990s that Heinz and Roland Velich turned wine production from a hobby into a full-time business and created Austria's first cult Chardonnay with their Chardonnay "Tiglat".
