Château Cheval Blanc
If one had to list the five greatest Bordeaux wines, Château Cheval Blanc would almost certainly be among them. It is the primus inter pares of Saint-Émilion.
Here we have a dilemma in the naming of Cheval Blanc, one of the world's greatest red wines. You might think that we are dealing with the second wine here, which the name would certainly suggest. In reality, it is the white wine from Cheval Blanc (the second wine is called Petit Cheval, by the way). Typical St.-Émilion, somewhat more opulent than the better-known whites from Pessac Leognan, but not without finesse. On the contrary: the luscious, juicy character suits this wine very well and increases once again in the 2020 vintage to become an opulent bolt of charm. The combination of 80% Sauvignon Blanc and 20% Sémilion brings complexity, tension and freshness to this wine, which is accompanied by flavours of lime and mandarin, as well as plenty of exotic flavours such as mango and white peach.
