It is not clear whether the bright red sandstone was responsible for the martial name of the Roxheim Höllenpfad. However, it is quite obvious how much this special soil formation characterises the nature of the Höllenpfad. Minerality is the key word, with descriptions such as racy, vibrant and extremely lively springing to mind at the first sip. The mineral skeleton is surrounded by the peppery and floral notes typical of the Höllenpfad, complemented by expressive fruit, especially white peach. The dry autumn of 2022 with its cool nights also gave the wine a strong acid grip. This is Riesling at GG level at the price of a 1st site!

The Dönnhoff wine estate in Oberhausen on the Nahe has been in existence for over 250 years. Today it is run by Cornelius Dönnhoff, the fourth generation of the family to do so. Kreuznacher Kahlenberg, Roxheimer Höllenpfad, Krötenötenpfuhl or Dellchen. Dönnhoff has ten large vineyards that are among the best in the region - and here, on volcanic and slate rock, he produces primarily Rieslings of international renown.
