Compared to the estate's Grand Vin "Luce,? the significantly higher Merlot content and the use of less new oak during barrel aging result in a softer profile and much earlier approachability. Still, the word "second wine? feels inadequate – the wine is far too opulent and intense for that. A lavish bouquet pours from the glass, offering an abundance of dark red fruits – with black cherry, blackberry, and cassis leading the way – all wrapped in subtle oak spice and fine vanilla. The tannin structure adds elegance and backbone to this generous aromatic ensemble. The result: pure Tuscan drinking pleasure with an outstanding price-to-quality ratio.
