Penfolds Bin 28 Shiraz 2021
Ripe, intense and almost overflowing with flavour - "BIN 28', which has been produced since 1959 and has long since become a classic in the Penfolds portfolio, is the blueprint of an Australian warm-climate Shiraz. Originally from the Barossa Valley, "BIN 28' is now a cuvée from a wide variety of regions and vineyards. This does not detract from its quality - on the contrary: its warm and powerful flavour is complemented by supple, soft tannins and plenty of spice. Dark berries, plum, a hint of liquorice, plus cherry and chocolate slightly reminiscent of Black Forest gateau - "a trip to the German cake shop' is what Penfolds itself calls it on its website. And you can still find them today in Barossa and the Adelaide Hills, where many German emigrants once flocked.
