Glaetzer Wines
When Australian wine has Brandenburg roots, there must be a special family history behind it. in 1888, the Glaetzers landed in Adelaide to settle in the nearby Barossa Valley.
Ben Glaetzer's benchmark for "The Eye of Ra' was to create nothing less than the archetype of a Barossa Shiraz. The winery calls it an "ultra-premium Shiraz', created in the search for the "perfect' wine. Hand-picked grapes from vines up to 110 years old form the basis, followed by cool fermentation below 18? Celsius and 16 months of ageing in 100% new French barriques. The result is a deeply impressive masterpiece of immense intensity and complexity. Dark plum, blackcurrant and blueberry combine with notes of mocha and liquorice to create a never-ending, beguiling experience of profound depth.
