Château Pape Clément
Yes, you are right, because the name says it all: this vineyard belonged to a pope, more precisely to Clement V - and that was at the beginning of the 14th century.
In recent years, this cru classé has returned to its original fine style, which has always made it special among the great wines from Bordeaux. The 2023 in particular shows a lot of finesse with its fine aromas and elegance and classic Pessac style with its earthy notes. Precise and with supple tannins, it is no longer the somewhat oversized wine of 10 years ago. A very pleasing development and, especially with its comparatively moderate price this year, a strong alternative to its neighbors, some of which are much more expensive.
