Winery Geheimrat J. Wegeler Geheimrat J 2021

The great first wines of Bordeaux, which only bear their château name on the label, were the model for the Geheimrat J. A proud 16 vineyards contributed to the 2021 edition of this premium late harvest, which has been produced for 40 years. This is reflected in its enormously complex structure, creaminess from loess plots, slate minerality and clear flint notes. The fruit is dominated by apricot, with a hint of vanilla and the light caramel flavour typical of Wegeler. Herbal notes and a fine yet ever-present acidity round off the flavour. An exceptionally well-balanced, round and elegant Rheingau Riesling, which was awarded between 94 and 96 points by the critics.
