Alongside the legendary "Caberlot,? the "Carnasciale? is the second wine of the estate, also from Caberlot vines?a natural crossing between Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It is generally made from younger vines and aged for about 18 months in new oak. The deep ruby-red wine shows intense aromas of smoke, black cherries, plums, dried herbs and spices, mocha, leather, and licorice. On the palate, it is serious, structured, profound, lively, and fresh. Far more than a "second wine?!

Originally planned as a long-term renovation project by Bettina and Wolf Rogosky, Podere Il Carnesciale became the guardian of one of the rarest top varieties of Italian viticulture almost by chance. Podere Il Carnesciale is located around 60 kilometres south-east of Florence in the heart of Chianti.
