In addition to the classic version, Hans Reisetbauer also distils a variant from red Williams pears, which is generally considered to have an even stronger and spicier flavour. Reisetbauer's version has a distinctly youthful freshness, with an invigorating fruitiness and piquant spice. In addition to the fascinatingly voluminous interplay of fruit and spice in the red Williams pear brandy, its impressively long finish is also remarkable. Reisetbauer has thus succeeded in the great feat of gaining a completely different perspective on the supposedly "exhausted' Williams pear genre.
