Champagne La Closerie Grand Cru LC 2023
The latest release from Meunier guru Jérôme Prévost is a blend of 50% Chardonnay from the Grand Cru Les Mesnil on the Côte de Blancs and 50% Pinot Noir from Puisieulx near Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. In keeping with Prévost's sophisticated style, the grapes were harvested as late as possible and the base wines were spontaneously fermented in used barrels of various sizes ranging from 228 to 600 litres. There they mature briefly before tirage takes place and the champagne undergoes a second fermentation on the fine lees for 18 to 24 months. This "Grand Cru' is a powerhouse and, for us, one of the greatest and most uncompromising terroir champagnes we know. A wine of incredible density, volume, freshness and depth in perfect craftsmanship.
