Winemakers from New Zealand

Salomon Estate

How many winemakers can you think of off the top of your head who produce wine in the northern and southern hemispheres? There are quite a few. But only a few have wineries in both regions. One of these families is the Salomon family from the Kremstal. For decades, Bertold and Getrud Salomon ran the Salomon Undhof in Kremstal, which was founded in 1792. At some point, they fell in love with the south of Australia and established the Salomon Estate on the Finniss River.

Cloudy Bay Vineyards

in 1983, David Hohnen tasted his first Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Driven by the ambition to "bottle the essence of the region, share it with the world" and to truly establish New Zealand as a wine country, he founded Cloudy Bay in 1985 together with winemaker Kevin Judd. In 2003, the partnership with Veuve Clicquot came into being, and in 2010 the winery became part of the LVMH Group.
