Escarpment Winery Chardonnay 2021

The 2021 "Chardonnay? from Escarpment comes from Martinborough, New Zealand. Whole-bunch pressed into a mix of puncheons and barriques, it was aged on full lees with 20% new oak. The wine still shows clear reductive notes reminiscent of struck matches. Behind that, there are spices, notes of oatmeal, nectarine, curry leaves, and salted lemons. On the palate, the wine is lively, intensely spicy, juicy, powerful, and precise.
