Burgenland wine-growing region

The wines of Burgenland are characterised by their fruitiness, structure and elegance. The red wines are often full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a pronounced fruitiness, while the white wines are fresh, aromatic and balanced. The sweet wines from the region are world-famous for their concentrated flavours, fine acidity and long shelf life.

The Burgenland wine-growing region is located in the east of Austria and stretches along the Hungarian border.

It is one of the most important wine-growing regions in the country and is divided into four main regions: Neusiedlersee, Leithaberg, Mittelburgenland and Südburgenland.

The climatic conditions in Burgenland are characterised by the Pannonian climate, which is characterised by hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters.

Stiegelmar Winery

The Stiegelmar Winery is located in Gols, on the north-eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. Founded three generations ago (1956), it is now run by Jürgen and Andrea Stiegelmar.

Heinrich Winery

Heike and Gernot Heinrich have a very precise idea of the perfect way to create wine: "Add nothing, take nothing away." Because this is the only way to create authentic products "that tell of their origin." In this case, origin refers to the sites around the northern shore of Lake Neusiedl in northern Burgenland.
