The Bercher family has been rooted in the heart of the Kaiserstuhl wine-growing region for more than 250 years, producing wines with great identity and passion. With its special climate and terroir, the region near the French border is perfect for Burgundy grape varieties.

In particular, the top sites on the Feuerberg, with their "Große Gewächs" parcels Haslen for Pinot Gris and Kesselberg for Pinot Noir, are a guarantee of great quality and a blueprint for the region's top Burgundy wines.

The grapes are always harvested at the beginning of physiological ripeness in order to preserve the unique filigree and tension that characterise Bercher's wines. This minerality and freshness allows comparison with the great wines of the Côte de Beaune and contributes to the special position of the Bercher winery in the region.

The Berchers originally come from Switzerland, where the first records and the family coat of arms date back to 1457. During the Thirty Years' War, they moved to Burkheim in the Kaiserstuhl. Today's winery was built in 1756 and is located in the centre of Burkheim, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Germany.

Arne and Martin Becher are responsible for the wines of the estate, which has been a member of the Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates (VDP) since 1990. They produce wines from 26 hectares of Kaiserstühl vineyards, which are mainly characterised by volcanic weathered rock and loess. 40% of the vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir, 23% with Pinot Gris, 17% with Pinot Blanc and the remaining rows are shared by Chardonnay, Riesling and other varieties.
