Buy wines from Bründlmayer Langenlois
The vineyards of the Bründlmayer family, mostly laid out in terraces, are located on the hills around Langenlois, 70 kilometres west of Vienna. Here in the Kamptal there are primary rock, loess and clay soils. Hot days and cool nights in summer and long sunny autumn periods are also typical. This gives Kamptal wines their crystal-clear, mineral character.
the most important grape variety is Grüner Veltliner, Riesling is also of central importance, and Chardonnay and Burgundy varieties are considered specialities. For the red wines, the Bründelmayers rely on Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and St. Laurent.
For more than 40 years, all cultivated areas have been managed sustainably, free of chemical fertilisers and herbicides. The organic-biological farming method has been certified since 2015.
The vines, some of which are 90 years old, are given special attention by gentle pruning, by an alignment close to the ground and by the elaborate lyre-training. In this process, the plants are divided in such a way that they stretch towards the sky like two arms and thus absorb more light and are optimally ventilated.
Between September and December, the grapes are harvested by hand in two to three rounds. The pressing is done particularly gently with only minimal pressure. To preserve the aroma, the musts are fermented cool but not cold in steel or wood. Depending on the variety, the wines remain in the barrel for three to 18 months, sparkling wines sometimes for several years.
