The Grosses Gewächs from the Brauneberger Juffer vividly demonstrates what characterises Oliver Haag's wines: Precision, elegance and high, densely woven complexity. The 2019 is a milestone among Haag's dry Grosses Gewächs. It offers a beguiling bouquet of exotic fruit combined with herbal and slightly flinty notes. On the palate, the "Juffer' is dry and juicy, with plenty of yellow fruit and a salty, mineral finish. A highly elegant appearance full of vibrant tension, which is now just at the beginning of its ideal drinking window, but certainly has storage potential for at least another 10 years. There was once a place on the Middle Mosel called Dusemond. The local vineyards "Brauneberger Juffer" and "Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr" have always been famous for top-quality Riesling - so famous that the place has been called Brauneberg since 1925. That is marketing.
