Family winery Tement Zweigelt Selection 2015
This wine is the late harvest of a Zweigelt from loamy limestone marl soils, which was matured in two to three-year-old barriques. The slightly transparent, ruby-red wine would hardly be mistaken for a Zweigelt if you were blind, but would rather be classified as a Bordeaux. It is very fragrant and elegant on the nose: black cherries and blackberries, plums, some lavender and roses, but also herbs, a hint of cedar, clove and wood. It is also reminiscent of the Bordelais Rive droite on the palate. The fruit is joined by notes of dark, silky chocolate, mocha and roasted wood. The tannins appear ripe and fine-grained, the acidity lively and fine.
