Tenuta San Guido
Tenuta San Guido is located on the Etruscan coast between Livorno and Grosseto, in the Maremma, and stretches for 13 kilometres from the sea to the inland. San Guido can be considered one of Italy's iconic wineries.
Tenuta San Guido is, of course, first and foremost the legendary Sassicaia, if not the Tuscan cult wine par excellence. The fact that the estate also has interesting wines in its portfolio far below the exorbitant prices charged for current vintages of this forefather of all super Tuscans is often forgotten. However, "Le Difese? - the entry-level quality at San Guido - is also worthy of attention in view of its great price/enjoyment ratio. It shares Cabernet Sauvignon as a central component with its big brother - albeit with less than 80% as in the Sassicaia. The second grape variety added to the "Difese? is Sangiovese. After 15 months of ageing in barriques, you get a lot of fruit, smoothness and elegant tannins at an everyday price.
