Château Coutet
The Château Coutet in Saint-Émillion dates back to the 15th century. It has been closely associated with the Beaulieu family for over 400 years.
Typical of Barsac, Château Coutet is not as opulent as many wines from Sauternes (Barsac is a separate commune within Sauternes) and has the typical fine bitter note of the appellation. The proportion of Sèmilion in the 2020 is very high and provides plenty of structure and pressure with flavours of exotic fruits such as mango, passion fruit and papaya. However, it is not fat or even broad, but almost dances on the palate and has a very long finish. The new wine style in Sauternes also shows more freshness and finer acidity than before and makes the wines more enjoyable to drink overall.
