Bordeaux 2025 - a balancing act with a happy ending!

The fascinating thing about Bordeaux for us is always the great variety of vintages. Hardly any other major wine-growing region in the world offers such diversity - both between vintages and within its unique terroirs.

The 2025 vintage was characterised by great heat, but also by astonishing freshness, as the nights remained sufficiently cool. The harvest took place at one of the earliest times in Bordeaux's history. This decision proved to be decisive for the later quality and led to the remarkable result of the 2025 vintage. The result was an extremely small harvest in some cases. There will be wines that suggest an early purchase decision. In terms of price, the 2025 vintage should be very attractive in the context of its high quality and the historically low harvest quantities, giving a new boost to the subscription concept.

The winners include the large terroirs on both the left and right banks. The best and most harmonious wines were produced where there was a sufficient supply of water and the precise work of recent years was effective.

Châteaux such as Figeac, Mouton Rothschild, Léoville Las Cases, Margaux, La Conseillante and Troplong Mondot have produced wines of unrivalled beauty and balance. Finesse, cool, juicy fruit and a remarkable freshness are to the fore. The sometimes powerful tannins and the present acidity are perfectly integrated and carry the wines with great harmony and complexity. The paradox of this vintage lies in the fact that the 2025 will be a pleasure to drink early on, but at the same time needs time to fully integrate these distinctive parameters into a harmonious overall picture. In a few years, the wines will reward with elegance, freshness, depth and longevity.

This vintage will take the hearts of Bordeaux lovers by storm. The accessibility is already remarkable. The wines are hedonistic, fresh and animating thanks to the precisely placed acidity and the lean, cool fruit.

Falstaff has already awarded a sensational 12 x 100 points for the best wines of the vintage.

We will keep you up to date - as soon as new wines are released over the next 2 months. So please check our website regularly.
