Champagne

There are sparkling wines and there is champagne. It is not only the nimbus that makes the wines of Champagne so special, but also the unique interplay of terroir and grape varieties. There are now many different varieties: Blanc de Blancs, Blanc de Noirs, Rosé and Rosé de Saignée, champagnes with and without vintages, prestige champagnes from major houses and those from independent winegrowers.

Pol Roger

If you're a champagne fan who wants to drink your way past the classic and globally renowned corporate brands, you might end up at Pol Roger. It is not only one of the few family-run businesses in Champagne, but one of the best anywhere. Today, the fifth generation is at the helm.

Champagne Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is one of the last great Champagne houses still in family ownership.

Champagne Charles Heidsieck

The name Charles Heidsieck stands for one of the most colourful figures in Champagne history; Charles Heidsieck, known as Champagne Charlie in the USA, was one of the most important ambassadors of French sparkling wine worldwide from the middle of the 19th century.

Champagne Bollinger

With almost 200 years of history, Bollinger still presents itself today as an independent family-owned Champagne estate.

Taittinger

The traditional family business is based in Reims and emerged from the Forest & Fourneaux winery in the early 1930s. It was founded by Pierre-Charles Taittinger, who was a young Parisian officer stationed at the Château de la Marquetterie in Champagne in 1915. 17 years later, he bought this château and joined forces with his brother-in-law Paul Evêque to take over Forest-Fourneaux two years later.

Champagne Egly-Ouriet

When Francis Egly took over the family business in Ambonnay in 1982, the great age of vintner champagne had not yet arrived. However, Egly was one of the leading figures of a new movement and remains one of the most important and best winemakers in the entire Champagne region to this day.

Champagne Thiénot

The famous family-run Champagne estate was founded by Alain Thiénot, who acquired around 30 ha of land in the 1980s ¬- Grands Crus in the great historic valley in Aÿ and in the Côte des Blancs, and Premiers Crus in Dizy and Cumières and on the Coteaux south of Epernay. Alain's father ran the champagne producer Irroy.

Champagne Jacquesson

Jacquesson already had a very good reputation in the middle of the 19th century. The house then went quiet for a while until Jean-Hervet and Laurent Chiquet took it over in 1988 and turned it into one of the best addresses in Champagne.
