The Domaine was founded by George Roumier in Chambolle-Musigny in 1924 and today, one hundred years later, it is run by Christophe, the third generation of the family. Some of the finest and most sought-after Pinot Noirs in the wine world are produced here.

When Georges Roumier settled in Chambolle-Musigny in 1924 following a marriage, his parents-in-law entrusted him with several hectares in important Climats. These included plots in Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, Musigny Grand Cru and Chambolle-Musigny Premier Cru "Les Amoureuses". Over time, Georges Roumier interpreted these sites to perfection and was the first person in Chambolle to bottle and sell the wines himself. When his son officially succeeded him in 1961, the winery already had an excellent reputation, which Jean-Marie Roumier was only to enhance. In the 1950s, he and his father had the opportunity to purchase several rows in the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru as well as part of the "Clos de la Bussière" in Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru, whose enclosure wall dates back to the 12th century. A section of the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru was also added in 1968.

christophe Roumier joined his father in 1983 and ran the estate together with him until his retirement in 1990. Today, he runs it together with his sister Delphine. The estate's own vineyards now cover more than 12 hectares, as the opportunity gradually arose to acquire vineyards that were previously leased or partially leased. These included parcels in the Grand Crus Charmes-Chambertin and Ruchottes-Chambertin.

Some of the vines on the estate are very old. The oldest of them are in Musigny and Chambolle-Musigny „Les Amoureuses“ are home to vines over a hundred years old. Chemical fertilisers and herbicides have not been used since 1983. Instead, they use compost, precise pruning, partial destemming after manual harvesting, the exclusive use of indigenous yeasts, gentle maceration for an average of 20 to 23 days and a very low proportion of new wood.

Christophe Roumier thus follows in the tradition of his mentors Henry Jayer, Jacques d'Angerville, Gérard Potel and Jacques Seysses. He produces extremely fine, precise and elegant wines that are in great demand worldwide.
