Château de Fieuzal Winery

"When we taste Fieuzal, we taste much more than a wine, we taste a place and an experience."

Brenda and Lochlan Quinn

If there is such a thing as a bank in the Graves appellation, then it is Château de Fieuzal with an excellent red Cru de Graves and an equally outstanding white wine, albeit a much rarer one.

With 60 hectares of vineyards planted with red grape varieties and ten hectares of vineyards for the white wines, Fieuzal is one of the largest wine estates in the Graves and Pessac-Léognan region. Gérard Gribelin made the winery what it is today from 1974 onwards.

in 2001, it was then taken over by Scotsmen Brenda and Lochlan Quinn, who invested once again and raised the standard together with winemaker Stephen Carrier and field manager Christophe Rousseau. The winery has been certified organic since the 2019 vintage.

But that's not all. Biodiversity is a top priority here and the winery is more of a wine farm because of the beehives, chicken coops, vegetable and fruit gardens and the great biodiversity inside and outside the vineyards.

The vineyards are located in eastern Pessac and are divided by the Eau Blanche river. On one side, the vineyards tend to be characterised by gravel, on the other by clay and limestone. The red vines are divided into 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. There are also ten hectares of white vines, each with 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Sémillon. The red wine is matured in oak barriques, acacia wood tonneaux and a little cement and stainless steel. The white wine is similar, except that a concrete egg is added here.
