Château La Lagune 3éme GCC Haut Medoc 2020

The highest-classified vineyard in Haut Médoc - it is a 3ème Grand Cru Classé - is located very far to the south of the appellation, very close to the commune of Margaux. This means that La Lagune always presents itself as somewhat finer and more elegant than its competitors in the far north of the Haut Médoc, which extends as far north as St. Estèphe. La Lagune underwent a paradigm shift when it changed hands around 20 years ago.The style of the wines has changed completely.The 2020 shows this very clearly with supple tannins, ripe fruit and with its aromas of eucalyptus and liquorice, it sometimes seems a little Californian. Overall, an incredibly beautiful wine, albeit no longer the La Lagune of past decades.
