The Hundsrück is not (yet) as well known as the Centgrafenberg. This is hardly surprising, as the Hundsrück vineyard was integrated into the Centgrafenberg without a trace after the wine law reform and land consolidation of the 1970s. The vineyard has only been listed as a single vineyard again since 2011. It is purely south-facing with a slope of up to 40% and a 0.5 to 3 meter thick layer of ferrous weathering on bare rock form the soil of one of the best Pinot Noir sites in Germany. The 2019 shows predominantly black berry fruit and some plum. It also has an impressive bouquet of spices and herbs, juniper, powerful tannins and the intense and deep minerality that makes the Hundsrück so unique. STEPHAN REINHARDT from WINE ADVOCATE gave it 98 points, JAMES SUCKLING was just one point lower with a score of 97.

At home in Bürgstatt am Main, in the westernmost corner of Franconia, the winery looks back on a tradition of almost 400 years. in 1997, Paul and Monika Fürst took over the business, renovated parcels and acquired more. Since 2018, the management has been in the hands of their son Sebastian and his wife Isabell. Today, the vineyard covers 21 ha and is 60% planted with Pinot Noir. In addition, there is Frühburgunder, Chardonnay, Weißburgunder and Riesling.
