This Cabernet Sauvignon comes from the Braeside Vineyard on the Finniss River in the small Fleurieu Peninsula appellation in McLaren Vale. The wine matured for 18 months in French oak with a new wood content of 20%. It is a true Aussie Cabernet: It has richness, is powerful and deep, but at the same time perfectly formed, graceful and balanced with fantastic aromatics of cigar box, chocolate, mint, and bayberry, blackberry, cassis and blueberry. It is carried by the finest tannins.

How many winemakers can you think of off the top of your head who produce wine in the northern and southern hemispheres? There are quite a few. But only a few have wineries in both regions. One of these families is the Salomon family from the Kremstal. For decades, Bertold and Getrud Salomon ran the Salomon Undhof in Kremstal, which was founded in 1792. At some point, they fell in love with the south of Australia and established the Salomon Estate on the Finniss River.
