The 2018 "Valbuena 5?? comes from a comparatively cool vintage, which suits this blend of 96% Tinto Fino and 4% Merlot very well. After a cool four-day pre-fermentation maceration, it was spontaneously fermented and aged in both new and used 225-liter oak barrels (4% American oak) and 21,000-liter vats. This year, it shows very spicy, fragrant, aromatic notes, and is extremely juicy and easy to drink. An elegant, deeply dark, black-fruited wine with notes of garrigue, braised beef, ripe dark plums, mint, vanilla, and wood. A true delight!
