Tua Rita Giusto di Notri Rosso 2021

Four fifths Cabernet Sauvignon, the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc - sounds like a Bordeaux from the left bank - but grows in the Tuscan Maremma. The parallels are also obvious when it comes to ageing: 18 months in new and one-year-old barriques, followed by further ageing in the bottle. Even the soil - a mixture of clay and pebbles - is reminiscent of the conditions in the Medoc. So it is no wonder that the Giusto di Notri from Tua Rita is considered the benchmark par excellence for Bordeaux blends from Tuscany. On the palate, it delivers what its style promises: lusciously full, dark berry fruit, enveloped in spicy notes of vanilla, dark chocolate and cedar wood. A Supertuscan that could hardly be more Aquitanian.
