Tua Rita Redigaffi 2020

"Cult wine' is sometimes a somewhat overused term - but it is more than appropriate for the Redigaffi from Tua Rita. This single-varietal Merlot has been on the market since 1994, achieving scores above the magical 95 points almost without exception year after year and was the first Merlot in Italy to be awarded 100 points twice. The 2020 vintage also shows great class, characterised by density and concentration. Lush, soft fruit (blackberry, plum, cherry) wrapped in a highly complex flavour of cedar, tobacco, herbs and some liquorice dominate the aromas. Monumental and yet accessible at the same time. Wine Avocate and James Suckling awarded it a 96, while Falstaff rated it one point higher at 97.
