Tua Rita Per Sempre Syrah 2020

If the Redigaffi is the flagship of Tua Rita, then the Per Sempre is its deputy. The favourite wine of estate founder Virgilo Bisti is - somewhat surprisingly for the estate and region - made from Syrah. It defies comparison with the great Syrahs from the northern Rhone as well as those from Australia. But this only applies to its character, as the class of the Per Sempre, which has been produced since 2001, needs no comparison. 99 points from James Suckling and 97 from Wine Advocate for the 2020 wine leave little doubt about this. Luscious dark fruit, with unbridled spicy power underneath, surrounded by the typical Syrah hint of violets. All of this with the warmth and flattering fullness that characterises the great wines from the southern Maremma.
