The neighbouring appellation of St.-Émilion, Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux - has always offered a very interesting (and affordable) alternative to its famous neighbour. Among others, Stephan Graf Neipperg, who also owns the two Premier Cru vineyards Château Canon La Gaffeliere and Château La Mondotte, recognised this. The limestone soils and the somewhat cooler climate here produce a wine year after year that never ceases to amaze! The fine fruit and the elegance and minerality of this 2016 wine puts many a higher priced St.-Émilion to shame. And at an unbeatable price. Go for it!

In the 1970s, the von Neipperg family began acquiring properties in Bordeaux, including Château d'Aiguilhe in the Castillon - Côtes de Bordeaux appellation. The château is originally a 13th century fortification. Ruins bear witness to its long history.
