This great growth is called "Felsentürmchen' (little rock tower) within the estate - after the old tower in the centre of the official Felsenberg vineyard. This diminutive is rather misleading for the wine that grows here. Cornelius Dönnhoff reveals its impressive size year after year. A 60% slope, volcanic soil with a weathered layer, vines around four decades old - all this makes for a highly complex interplay of stony, almost barren backbone, coated in juicy yet always elegant fruit. Peach, but also exotic fruit such as passion fruit and mango characterise the aroma. Herbal tones, acidity and minerality round off the highly complex, perfectly balanced appearance.

The Dönnhoff wine estate in Oberhausen on the Nahe has been in existence for over 250 years. Today it is run by Cornelius Dönnhoff, the fourth generation of the family to do so. Kreuznacher Kahlenberg, Roxheimer Höllenpfad, Krötenötenpfuhl or Dellchen. Dönnhoff has ten large vineyards that are among the best in the region - and here, on volcanic and slate rock, he produces primarily Rieslings of international renown.
