Esprit Leflaive Pouilly-Fuissé 2018

2018 marks the debut vintage of Leflaive's Esprit range. Its guiding principle: "Terroirs de Bourgogne in Partnership?. The wines are produced in collaboration with partner winegrowers – specifically in carefully selected vineyards where Leflaive does not own any land. This Pouilly-Fuissé is no exception; it comes from two plots in Chaintré with vines that are nearly 70 years old and bears Leflaive's signature in every detail: organically grown, hand-harvested, aged for a year in barriques (15% of which are first-fill), followed by six months in stainless steel tanks. The wine presents itself with seductively lush exotic fruit (mango, papaya), great depth, structure-giving nutty notes and an excitingly vibrant minerality. All the excellence of Leflaive at a bargain price.
