Benjamin Leroux is a phenomenon. Originally from Beaune, but not born into a family of winegrowers, he became estate manager at Comte Armand in his mid-twenties and has since gained worldwide fame with his own wines.
Benjamin Leroux Meursault 2020
Benjamin Leroux's Meursault is a village Burgundy of the very highest calibre. Grapes from his vineyards in Criots, Millerands, Moulin Landin, Clos de Village and Bois de Blagny form the basis; fermentation took place in a mix of 300- and 600-litre barrels, with ageing in both barriques and stainless steel tanks. The diversity of origins in this Meursault is reflected in its enormous complexity – remarkable not only for a village wine. The palate offers plenty of ripe citrus fruit, plenty of tension and minerality, along with perfectly balanced acidity and a remarkable length. Consequently, the rating from Jasper Morris/Inside Burgundy is 91–93 points.
