Winery Albrecht Schwegler GRANAT Grande Cuvée 2019

Lush and ripe fruit, countered by the tannin of French oak, characterise Schwegler's top red cuvée. Zweigelt (51%), Cabernet (32%), Merlot (10%) and Lemberger (7%) deliver a dense and incredibly powerful blend of beguiling suppleness after long ageing in first fill barriques. On the palate, dark cherries, fully ripe plums and blackberries, plus fine, round tannins, smoky tones and a little vanilla from the oak. All of this merges into a rounded whole, into which even the still young tannins blend harmoniously. Already a pleasure to drink now, but with potential for at least another decade.
