The "Grass im Ofen' vineyard is one of the best plots for white Burgundy varieties in Germany. The reason for this is its very special location. Located on the sun-drenched Winklerberg, full ripeness is virtually guaranteed, while at the same time a ridge that provides shade in the morning – just like the edge of the forest above the plot – ensures coolness and thus preserves elegance, complexity and finesse. The 2017 Grass im Ofen is brightly fruity with citrus notes – some of which are candied – and hints of fully ripe yellow apples. Its typical salty-cool minerality is unmistakable, providing a counterpoint to the warm fruitiness. One of the rare Pinot Blancs from Germany of true greatness.
