Stiegelmar Winery
The Stiegelmar Winery is located in Gols, on the north-eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl. Founded three generations ago (1956), it is now run by Jürgen and Andrea Stiegelmar.
For this Trockenbeerenauslese (TBA), Jürgen Stiegelmar uses the Welschriesling and Sämling varieties, known here as Scheurebe. The grapes come from the Lüsswiese vineyard in Podersdorf with its dark sandy soil and clayey subsoil. The raisined grapes were fermented at a controlled temperature and matured in stainless steel. The golden yellow wine has an intense aroma of raisins and sweet apricots, candied oranges and ginger, herbs, apples and mangoes. There is also a hint of honey on buttery, warm brioche. The balance between sweetness and fresh acidity is very successful.
