Its soil is characterised by a mix of granite, gravel and pebbles – a combination that also lends tension to the Syrahs of the northern Rhône in the Côte Rôtie. The wine is a real pleasure to drink, with lush red and black fruit, fresh acidity and rounded tannins, complemented by the spice from fourteen months' oak ageing. On the palate, it is very lively and spicy, with a refreshing hint of menthol on the finish.
