In some years a little rough and more reminiscent of a rather simple St. Estèphe, this year it delights with juicy, rather red fruit aromas due to the high Merlot content (40%). Silky, ripe tannins and a great harmony in this charming vintage make this second wine from the great Lafite Rothschild very appealing! 96 Fallstaff points!

There are supposed to be people who have no interest whatsoever in wine. And even they "of course" know the name "Lafite-Rothschild" and know that it is one of the most famous wineries of all. Some may also have picked up that a bottle from the estate of Thomas Jefferson fetched a price of 160,000 dollars at an auction in 1985.
