The first STK vineyard Ried Wielitschberg is not home to Sauvignon Blanc or Morillon, but to old Gewürztraminer vines. The wine from weathered coral limestone soils was fermented down to 2.9 grams of residual sugar with 6.6 grams of acidity and matured for 30 months on the fine lees in neutral oak barrels and in steel tanks. The wine has a very clear structure and finesse as well as a bright and bell-clear image of lilac, broom and rose petals, grapefruit zest and candied ginger, a little pineapple, some passion fruit and dried fruit with nutmeg and mint. On the palate, the "Wielitschberg' is powerful and full-bodied, impressively fresh and juicy, even slightly salty with plenty of energy.
