Petrolo Galatrona Toscana Rosso 2021
A single-varietal Merlot grown on the slopes of the Arno Valley, just outside Florence, forms the foundation of "Galatrona.? An astonishing 100 points from *Falstaff* for the 2021 vintage speaks volumes about this Tuscan wine, produced since 1994. Like Petrolo's premium white, it stands out for its remarkable balance. "Galatrona? is immensely dense and powerful, bursting with dark, juicy fruit and a complex array of spices. Around 20 months of barrel aging (about a quarter in new French barriques) and finely polished tannins complete the blend, which – despite all its raw power – presents itself with striking freshness. Without a doubt, one of Italy's greatest Merlots.
