The roots of what is now Spottswoode Estate in St Helena in the Napa Vallay go back to 1872, when German settlers originally bought land for a summer residence and planted the first vines.

This "Estate Cabernet Sauvignon? from Spottswoode is a great wine, but even after nine years it still deserves more time in the cellar. It offers classic Cabernet notes of green tobacco, cassis, violets, stone, graphite, and cedar, with impressive depth, structure, and precise acidity. There is a sense of chalky minerality and a silky mouthfeel that only fully reveals itself with ample air in decanter and glass. A truly great Napa Cabernet in the making – still evolving.
