Tenuta dell'Ornellaia
The Tuscan winery Tenuta dell'Ornellaia was founded in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori and in between partly owned by Robert Mondavi. Today it belongs to the wine empire of the Frescobaldi family.
Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Masseto 2014
The 2014 Masseto, a Merlot of cool nobility and unusual finesse, scores up to 97 points. Red fruits, graphite, herbs and violets on the nose. Precise and silky on the palate, supported by fresh acidity and a mineral backbone. The texture is fine, the fruit transparent, the finish long and salty. The balance between fruit, acidity and texture is exemplary, and the finish is highly elegant, distinct and noble.
