Legend has it that the vineyard, originally planted with Pinot Noir, was replanted with white vines (Chardonnay) at the behest of Charlemagne's wife (hence the name Charlemagne) because her husband always had a red beard from drinking red wine. Well, we don't know if that's true, but we do know that it resulted in one of the greatest white wines in the world! The 2020 Corton Charlemagne from Louis Latour is a truly powerful wine. Both opulent and incredibly complex, it is characterized by impressive minerality. With its cool charisma, it differs greatly from its Grand Cru brothers from Montrachet. A great wine with history!
