Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia Macán Clasico Rioja DOCa 2022
Right in the heart of La Rioja lies a collaboration between two wine legends with illustrious names: their project is called Macán – and it is run by Vega Sicilia and the Rothschild family. Alongside the premium wine of the same name, a second wine is produced – the Clásico – which, in true Bordeaux tradition, differs only in the less stringent selection of the grapes (around 99% Tempranillo). The treatment in the cellar is identical for both wines: fifteen months' ageing in predominantly new French oak. The Macán Clásico 2022 displays a bouquet typical of the variety: plenty of dark berries, accompanied by notes of spice and herbs. On the palate, the powerful, dense body is complemented by rounded tannins, woody notes and fresh acidity.
