Domaine Faively Mercurey Rouge 1er Cru Clos des Myglands 2024
Faiveley's Clos des Myglands monopole vineyard is a perfect ambassador for Mercurey. In 2024, the Côte Chalonnaise showed its kinder side: while the great vineyards further north struggled with severe powdery mildew, yields here were a healthy 26–27 hl/ha. The result is a decidedly drinkable Pinot Noir with a charming directness. The nose opens with flowers and fresh herbs, followed by bright red berries?cherry, raspberry. On the palate, it is supple, juicy, and has fine acidity. Sure, this Mercurey isn't a giant for the ages?but it is a Pinot that offers plenty of drinking pleasure. As a food pairing with fine braised meats (such as suckling pig cheeks), it's hard to beat.
