Much like Ornellaia's Poggio alle Gazze, Vistamare is the white exception at the Bolgheri estate, which is otherwise dominated by red wines. At Gaja, however, there are now only three grape varieties used in the blend: Vermentino, Viognier and Fiano, all of which are distinctly Mediterranean. Particular care is taken to ensure that the vines in the various vineyard plots are always tended with meticulous attention to their specific needs. The wine produced in this way is delightfully complex yet remarkably clear. Floral notes (acacia, lime blossom, jasmine) blend with herbal tones (sage, camomile), yellow fruit (pineapple, white peach, apricot) and citrus freshness to create a crisp, aromatic explosion on the palate. The perfect accompaniment to grilled sole or sea bream!
